Puyallup Heads and Horns competition
« on: January 22, 2014, 05:35:11 PM »
I take it that skulls aren't included into this competition givin the name of it???  I don't remember what they had last time I was there.  I would be interested in taking my bear skull.  Any idea on this?

Heads==skulls.

 Take it up. It may be worth a rifle as a prize. They gave out 3 of them last year. Mine was with a bear skull, another with an elk rack, and another with a billy.

 Yes, and you have to be there for the presentation on Sunday. I believe it was at 2:00. I took my bear skull up on Sat. and came back on Sunday. They gave me a ticket so I could get back in for free. I hope they're doing the same thing this year. I don't have anything to put in but they do have a lot of cool prizes and such for the winners in about a dozen categories.

 He scored 21 5/16 so I ended up getting 2nd in show. I won a Ruger 10/22 break down rifle with case. I just took it up to get it scored and officially measured and he ended up being tied for 4th all time in the NW Big Game Records. It was pretty cool all the way around.

Bummer I'll be out of town with my moose and wont be able to take him to Puyallup. I'm sure curious what the prizes will be.

Does it cost to get horns scored? I have WY and a MT buck I'd like to get scored. Will they do it the same day you take them in?

Congrats Eli.  I saw that skull down there and it had me worried that it might be bigger than mine for a while.  Definitely a pumpkin head!

I was there yesterday. $25 to get it scored and entered in the competition. They said you could have it scored only with no entry free of charge. When I was there they said at least a three hour wait, but I didn't see any measuring going on at the time.
